Almost every little girl has been exposed to so sort of Disney princess movie within her lifetime, usually starting at a very young age. The most popular of these tend to be, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas. The one thing…
This makes me think of Brat dolls and the problem with Barbie, too. But when I see my nieces fighting over princess things, they’re just interested in looking like a princess because princesses are “beautiful.” I try to tell them they are silly, wearing a necklace with Cinderella’s face on it does not automatically make them beautiful. Of course, they are children and do not listen to me. I do, however, think children are more resilient than we give them credit for. My nieces don’t seem to care for the princes, though; they just want a fake, shimmery gown or plastic heels and a tiara.
